This week, the global community of airport innovators, start-ups, visionary thinkers, researchers and top tech minds gathers at Rome Fiumicino Airport for AIRPORTS INNOVATE 2024. The conference, organised jointly by ACI EUROPE, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East and ACI World, and hosted by Aeroporti di Roma, will chart the future of air travel, pooling innovative solutions, groundbreaking tools and know-how from across the globe.
ACI Asia-Pacific has released the Tendering Guideline for Climate Resilience Planning to build on airport operators’ understanding of the climate risk assessment. This guideline will help identify an airport’s sensitivity to adverse impacts and adaptive capacity to climate hazards.
ACI Asia-Pacific presented its efforts in promoting the mitigation of climate change to the 46th ASEAN Air Transport Working Group meeting and an associated Sustainability Forum held in Singapore from 12 to 15 September 2022.
ACI Asia-Pacific had the honour to virtually participate in the 7th China Airport Services Conference on “Boosting the industry’s confidence starting from the trends in the global aviation market in the post-epidemic era”.
The aviation industry in the Middle East has benefited significantly from the region’s strategic location – at the cross roads of major economies in Asia, Africa and Europe. Due to its geographical location, Middle East carriers can easily connect to any continent in the world: From the well-established international hubs of Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, aircraft can reach almost all of Asia, Africa, Europe within a flying range of eight hours.
Over the years, ACI Asia-Pacific has played an active role in the area of aviation security and facilitation in the Middle East. Mr. Gary Leung, Manager, Security and Facilitation of ACI Asia-Pacific, is currently the vice-chair of the ICAO Middle East Regional Aviation Security and Facilitation Implementation Team (RAFIT).
Alphanumeric callsign is a proven way of reducing the risk of confusion amongst pilots, ATC and airports of very similar callsigns such as EK1234 and QR1234. The concept is simple: replace the numeric part of the callsign with a string of letters and numbers to maximize of the number of possible combinations and hence minimize the occurrences of similar callsigns. For example UAE408 would become UAE58E.

Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), International Civil Aviation Organisation and Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific will jointly organise a webinar on Global Reporting System and Format (GRF) on September 29, 2022 with the theme “Ten Months into GRF, Challenges Met and Lessons Learned in Asia-Pacific".
Stefano Baronci, Director General of the Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific, said the pandemic has "brought technology to the fore and has only accelerated the digital transformation that was already in place before," during an interview, July 7, with The Korea Times at the headquarters of the Korea Airports Corp. (KAC) in Seoul.
