Airport Excellence in Security

2019 APEX - Semarang , Indonesia

ACI is committed to helping airports develop and strengthen their capacity in aviation security. APEX (Airport Excellence) in Security is an ACI security capacity-building initiative, officially launched in 2017.

Since then, more than 25 reviews have been conducted in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.

As a peer review programme, it aims to help airports enhance security performance by improving compliance with ICAO regulations. The APEX review team assesses the current security practices of the airport, identifies security gaps and makes recommendations to address security vulnerabilities based on Annex 17 Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), Aviation Security Manual (Doc 8973) and other industry best practices.
