Stakeholder Engagement
ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East engages with regulators and associations of the aviation and travel industry to ensure that the views of airports are duly considered in the formulation of regulations and policies related to aerodrome operations and safety.
Topical issues raised during recent engagements include the promotion of a positive safety culture amongst regulators and operators alike, the enactment of competency requirements for operations personnel, and the challenges in the certification of aerodromes.
In an effort to recognise airport operators' efforts in promoting effective safety culture and safety management through innovative, cost-effective solutions, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East has launched Safety Recognition Award 2026.
The theme for the Awards is: Effective implementation of Runway Safety Team.
Airports that are regular members of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East are eligible to submit a paper on the theme.
The last date for submission of the paper is 31 December 2025.
The paper should consist of the following:
- Describe the safety issues related to the runway and explain the formation and principle applied by the runway safety team at the airport.
- Highlight the activities or innovative solution identified by the runway safety team in addressing operational challenges and safety concerns related to the runway.
- Demonstrate the innovativeness and effectiveness of activities performed through the Runway Safety Team and justify the applicability at other airports.
- Support the above with pictures, graphs and figures as necessary, using data between 2024 to 2025.
Eligibility:
- Regular Member, i.e. airport member, of ACI APAC & MID is entitled to submit one paper.
- The paper should contain no more than 10 pages, including a cover in font size of 11 points.
- The airport of the applicant has fully paid its membership dues to ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East up to the current year.

- Cost effectiveness (25%)
- Applicability at other airports (10%)
Jury Members:
- Mr. Tao Ma, Regional Director, ICAO APAC Office
