
Capacity Building
At ACI Asia-Pacific, we aim to enhance the opportunities for the development of Airport Management Professionals, we recognise the need for other areas of training where we have developed funding programmes, including Small Airports Assistance Programme (SAAP), Developing Nations’ Airports Assistance Programme (DNA), ACI Online Learning Center Scholarship 2020 (OLC Scholarship) and professional training, such as, ACI Global Training and Global ACI - ICAO Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program (AMPAP) in cooperation with experts in different competency areas.
Small Airports Assistance Programme
ACI Asia-Pacific recognizes the importance of capacity building for airport members’ employees, especially in Asia-Pacific, the fastest-growing region in the world. The Small Airports Assistance Programme is designed to assist eligible members to participate in ACI training courses and initiatives that encourage learning and knowledge exchange amongst airports in the region.
Programme Offer
ACI Global Training, in cooperation with the Regional Office, organizes training courses to develop airport staff and management talents in areas such as airport safety, security, economics, etc. The SAAP will subsidize the course fee for any ACI virtual training course up to US$2,000 per person.
TEN airport members’ staff from across the region (one per airport member) may submit the application to benefit from the SAAP this year.
Background and Objective

SAAP is designed to assist eligible members to participate in ACI training courses and initiatives that encourage knowledge exchange amongst airports in the region.
Eligibility
The SAAP 2021 is open to ACI Asia-Pacific airport members in good standing who:
- are from developing nations according to The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
- have handled less than 5,000,000 traffic units in 2018*
*Full criteria are listed in the separate correspondence sent to eligible members
Terms and Conditions
Upon approval, airport members shall proceed to register and settle the course fees. The expenses are then reimbursable by the Regional Office approximately three months after course completion, subject to satisfactory presentation of receipts, supporting documents and a written report.
Application and Approval
To apply, airport members shall:
- Fill in the Application Form
- Provide a nomination letter signed by the airport member’s Official Representative
- Include the resume of the applicant
Submit all 3 items to the Regional Office on or before 28 February 2021 for consideration.
As the SAAP fund is limited, the Regional Office can only accept ONE application per airport member. All applications are subject to the assessment and approval of the Regional Office.

Developing Nations’ Airports Assistance Programme
2019 DNA Training, New Zealand
Programme Details
The Developing Nations’ Airports (DNA) Assistance Programme, introduced in 2010, was created to support capacity building endeavours for eligible airport members in developing countries. The programme offers access to professional training programmes to airport employees of developing nations’ free of charge or at a discount.
ACI Asia-Pacific partners with airports in the region to host the training.
The programme aims to increase knowledge transfer by offering grants and/or scholarships in the form of financial aid for registration fees for participants meeting predefined criteria.
ACI Online Learning Center Scholarship
The ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Office is pleased to announce the ACI Online Learning Centre (OLC) Scholarship for 2021. Under this scholarship, eligible airport members can submit an application for scholarship to take a free or subsidized online course as listed in the OLC course catalogue at www.olc.aero (except for courses under “Leadership, Management and Business Skills”).

The Scholarship is open to ACI Asia-Pacific airport members in good standing who are:
- From developing nations according to The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
- Handled less than 5,000,000 traffic units in 2018 *

Application and Approval
To apply, interested applicants should:
- Fill in the Application Form
- Include the resume of the applicant
As the scholarship fund is limited, the Regional Office has the discretion to award a full or partial scholarship to the successful applicants on case-by-case basis.
All applications are subject to the approval of the Regional Office.
Submit both items to the Regional Office on or before 15 March 2021 for consideration.

ACI Global Training
ACI Asia-Pacific together with the ACI World Office offers a variety of training and development opportunities for members in the region. There are several resources and networks developed by ACI for training purposes.
Global ACI - ICAO Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program
AMPAP is a unique program that will confer the International Airport Professional (IAP) designation, which will soon become synonymous with a high caliber of internationally recognized airport executives. AMPAP comprises six courses, including four mandatory and two elective courses, to be completed within three years.
