Airport Traffic

Weekly Trending of Passenger Volume

ACI Asia-Pacific continues to monitor the impacts of COVID-19 on traffic and connectivity. Weekly trending of passenger volume up to the early December 2021 for both Asia-Pacific and the Middle East shows that the pace of recovery was largely stalled due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in many markets. Passenger volume has been flat since around April 2021 as a result of renewed social restrictions, tightening border controls as well as domestic lockdowns. In aggregate, passenger volume for week 49 (week ending on 05 December 2021) was at -77% compared to the same period in 2019. The emergence of the Omicron variant has cast a shadow over the recovery.
