On behalf of the Board, Christine Williams as Interim Chair welcomes the appointment of Ann Sherry AO as new Chair of the Queensland Airports Limited (QAL), noting that Ms Sherry will bring significant leadership and business experience to the role at a critical time of change for QAL.

Ms Sherry said it was a great opportunity and an exciting time to join QAL as the business continues its’ transition through recovery and into the next phase of growth – particularly with the Gold Coast airport terminal expansion completed and the Townsville airport refurbishment well progressed.

“QAL welcomes around 8.5 million people annually through its’ four airports across Southeast Queensland. These airports are gateways to the destinations that have seen an increase in population growth and associated increased demand in tourism” she said.

Ms Sherry, originally from Queensland, is relocating back to Brisbane, and has experience in both tourism and airports. Ms Sherry is the Chancellor of Queensland University of Technology. She is also the Chair of Port of Townsville, UNICEF Australia and Enero, and holds Non-Executive directorships at National Australia Bank and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia.

Prior to these current roles, Ms Sherry was the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Carnival Australia and was a Director of Sydney Airport Ltd.
