At its 18th Regional Assembly in Kobe, Japan, Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific, a trade association representing 622 airports from 47 countries/territories, has made a resolution to promote, restore and develop air connectivity in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East to ensure social and economic development as well as support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
At the 11th Asia Pacific Aviation Security Heads of Regulators (HOR) Meeting on 3 March 2023, ACI Asia-Pacific emphasised human-related difficulties in airport security and urged regional governments to work together with the airports to tackle such challenges providing to enable smooth recovery of the industry.
The ICAO joint Europe and Middle East 10th meeting of the Collaborative Arrangement for the Prevention and Management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation (CAPSCA EUR-MID/10) was held from 14-15 February 2023 in Bahrain.
ACI Asia-Pacific participated at the 9th Annual Technical and Operational Meeting (ATOM) of the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme – Asia Pacific (CASP-AP) in Singapore from 9-10 February 2023, hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).
The 3rd meeting of the ICAO Middle East Regional Aviation Security and Facilitation Group (MID-RASFG/3) was held from 16-18 January 2023 in Muscat, Oman and was hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Oman.
The 15th meeting of the ICAO Collaborative Arrangement for the Prevention and Management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation - Asia Pacific (CAPSCA-AP/15) was held from 14-16 December 2022 in Manila, Philippines. The meeting was attended by over 50 medical and civil aviation professionals from States and industry associations from the Asia-Pacific region.
The 7th Europe-Asia Pacific Aviation Security Forum, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Transport of Singapore and European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), was held in Singapore from 29-30 November 2022.
The Conference aims to promote and enhance cyber security awareness; support international co-operation; and provide a platform to discuss challenges, opportunities and solutions in aviation security.
The committee focused particularly on various emerging aviation security threats, including the rising number of drone attacks against civil aviation. The committee discussed the pros and cons of different anti-drone technologies and exchanged insights on their emergency response procedures for drone attacks.
Aimed to raise awareness and facilitate regional cooperation on enhancing air travel accessibility for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility, the workshop was attended physically and virtually by over 30 representatives from ASEAN Member States and industry associations, including ACI Asia-Pacific and IATA.
