Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) and the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, establishing a formal framework for collaboration between the region’s airport and air traffic management (ATM) communities.
As geopolitical complexities continue to reshape the aviation landscape, Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) reinforced its commitment to aviation security at the recent ICAO Cooperative Aviation Security Programme – Middle East (CASP-MID) Expert Working Group Meeting held virtually on the 18 May 2026. ACI APAC & MID joined aviation security regulators from 12 States in the Middle East region to strengthen international collaborations on aviation security.
The 59th meeting of the ACI World Security Standing Committee (WSSC/59) gathered in Hong Kong in Hong Kong from 6–8 May 2026.
Indonesia's aviation sector enters one of the most consequential periods. Following the landmark 2024 merger of Angkasa Pura I and Angkasa Pura II into Injourney Airports, which now manages 35 airports across the archipelago, cementing its place as one of the world's largest airport operators.
ACI APAC & MID encouraged Member States to work closely with airport operators to address the evolving roles of screening personnels and to invest in training needs as airports continue to integrate new technologies.
The 35th ACI APAC & MID Regional Aviation Security Committee (RASC) meeting, hosted by Changi Airport Group from 28-30 October in Singapore, saw a record participation of 69 security experts from airports and World Business Partners (WBPs) in the region.
Speaking on behalf of ACI APAC & MID, Mr. Gary Leung, Senior Manager for Security and Facilitation, highlighted the need to adopt a “security-by-design” approach as airports across the region embark on major infrastructure expansions.
ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East highlighted the importance of the use of technology in enhancing airport security operations while emphasising that equipment selection must avoid a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach, at a seminar organised by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), and hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka in Negombo, Sri Lanka.
Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) played a prominent role at the first-ever ICAO Regional Facilitation Regional Forum, held on July 7-8 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The forum convened over 120 participants, including state regulators, airports, airlines, and industry associations, to address critical issues in air transport facilitation.
With the aviation industry poised for exponential growth, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) is set to make strong recommendations at the 60th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) from 28 July to 1 August 2025.
