Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific and Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) announced the Airport Connectivity Report at the launch of its Middle East office in Riyadh. Developed in partnership with PwC, the Airport Connectivity Report measures passengers’ ability to access the global air transport network, capturing both direct and indirect routes, and also factoring in the quality of service of each connection, such as destination choice, service frequency, onward connectivity and price, contributing to the passenger experience. The report covers a sample of 100 airports that accounts for almost 60% of the combined passenger traffic in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East in 2019.
Two APEX in Security reviews were successfully conducted at Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) from 11-15 Sep and at Lombok International Airport (LOP) from 18-22 Sep, hosted by PT Angkasa Pura I in Indonesia.
The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has renewed the aerodrome license of Mangaluru International Airport. The renewed license effective from September 16, 2023, will be valid for a period of 5-years, that is up to September 15, 2028. The validity of the current aerodrome license issued on March 16, 2022, ended on September 15, 2023. The airport received the renewed license on September 12.
Continuing its endeavor of giving utmost priority to security, Mangaluru International Airport on September 1 handed over additional equipment to the airport security group (ASG) of CISF.
Mangaluru International Airport took a further step in enhancing security by procuring and handing over a bomb suit to the airport security group (ASG) of CISF. This is in line with a commitment given by the airport operator to this central armed police force, tasked with providing security to this vital national installation, to provide them with state-of-the-art security equipment. This also meets a requirement flagged by the civil aviation security regulator.
Passengers departing from Mangaluru International Airport had a truly special opportunity to witness the functioning of the airport canine squad of airport security group of CISF on August 3. ACI Asia-Pacific has been playing an active role in representing and promoting airports’ interests through ICAO in the area of aviation security. The 11th ICAO Asia & Pacific Regional Aviation Security Coordination Forum (RASCF-APAC/11) was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 26-27 July, 2023. As an annual regional security forum, hosted by ICAO, the event was attended by over 70 aviation security experts from state regulators and industry associations from across Asia-Pacific region.

Mangaluru International Airport has dedicated a new barrack accommodation for airport security group (ASG) personnel of CISF at Nandabettu in Kolambe village on July 26.
The familiar crackle of walkie-talkies used by aviation security group (ASG) of CISF at Mangaluru International Airport is now a thing of the past. Come July and the ASG personnel are now reporting for duty with their new state-of-the-art communication kits provided by the airport. This keeps the entire communication with the security operations control centre (SOCC), manned by CISF, strictly on a need-to-know basis.
