ACI APAC & MID highlights screening technology development at Incheon Aviation Security Seminar

As aviation security technologies continue to evolve, airports are preparing for changes that could influence security screening procedures and day-to-day operations. Keeping pace with these developments requires the exchange of knowledge and practical experience across the global aviation community.

In support of this objective, Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) shared regional perspectives on emerging aviation security technology trends during the 2026 Incheon Global Aviation Security Seminar, held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, on 8 July. The seminar was jointly organised by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC).

Representing ACI APAC & MID, Ms. Julian Chau, Manager, Security and Facilitation, presented on the adoption trends of security technologies across the Asia-Pacific region and highlighted their potential operational impacts on airports.

A key focus of the presentation was how airports can better prepare for procedural changes in Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) screening enabled by advanced technology.

The discussion continued during a panel session featuring aviation security experts from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and Changi Airport Group.

The seminar, themed "International AVSEC Transition: Policies, Equipment and Cooperation," brought together more than 50 participants from Republic of Korea's aviation industry to exchange perspectives on aviation security developments.
