At its 18th Regional Assembly in Kobe, Japan, Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific, a trade association representing 622 airports from 47 countries/territories, has made a resolution to promote, restore and develop air connectivity in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East to ensure social and economic development as well as support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Noida International Airport (NIA) has signed an agreement with Amadeus for the provision of a world-class passenger processing system (PPS) including common use check-in, boarding, baggage reconciliation, and DigiYatra enabled biometric capabilities.
Alstef Group, a leading global provider of automated handling solutions, has been awarded the baggage handling system project for the expansion of Antalya Airport’s Terminal 2. The expansion of both the departures and arrivals areas aims to enhance the passenger experience through improved passenger processing and is set to be completed by the first quarter of 2025.
Sharjah Airport has welcomed more than 3.8 million passengers in the first quarter of 2023, recording a 28.01 per cent increase over the same period in 2022, and is expected to achieve even higher growth rates by the year’s end due to its notable services for passengers. The aircraft movement for the same term also increased by 9.02 per cent, with 23,261 flights by the end of March, compared to 21,336 flights during the same period last year.

Mangaluru International Airport has scaled up its automated car parking system with the introduction of FASTag solution from April 18. The airport is introducing this upgraded solution to its parking system for passengers, greeters who come to see their families off, and those coming to the airport for meetings and park their vehicles in the designated parking lot. FASTag is an electronic toll collection system in India.

A contract for the supply and installation of a completely new baggage handling system (BHS) for Sofia Airport, Bulgaria’s main international airport, was signed earlier this week by Sofia Airport CEO Jesus Caballero and global baggage handling leader Alstef Group CEO Nicolas Breton. The contract, worth more than €10 million, includes supply, installation, and maintenance of a stateof-the-art passenger baggage management solution.
GMR Aero Technic (GAT), the MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) division of GMR Air Cargo and Aerospace Engineering Ltd. (GACAEL), has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Boeing Global Services (BGS) contract to convert 737-800 passenger aircraft into a 737-800BCF configuration. GMR Aero Technic is the first Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) partner to be located in India. The partnership will support conversions of both domestic and foreign aircraft.
