Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), an association representing 624 airports, delivered two important presentations at the ICAO Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for Middle East region in Riyadh, highlighting the critical need for enhancing air connectivity and seamlessly integrating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) into the current air transportation framework.
The sixth Aerodrome Safety & Planning Implementation Group (ASPIG/6) met in Muscat, Oman from 27 to 29 May 2024. The meeting addressed various agenda items focused on enhancing aerodrome safety and efficiency in the Middle East region.
At ICAO’s invitation, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) participated in an ICAO security assistance mission in Bhutan from 17 to 21 June 2024.
Over 50 security experts from airports and World Business Partners (WBPs) in the region recently convened in Muscat, Oman from 7-9 May 2024 for the 32nd ACI Asia-Pacific and Middle East RASC meeting.
The 18th Meeting of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Environment Committee was successfully convened in Bengaluru, India on 12-13 March 2024. The meeting was attended by over 40 environmental sustainability experts from airports and World Business Partners from Asia-Pacific and the Middle East regions.
Over the years, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East has been playing an active role in the area of security and facilitation in the Middle East region.
ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East has added two new handbooks to its library of safety guidelines. The first is on the safety of airfield maintenance works and the second on the safety of the use of unmanned aircraft systems, or commonly known as “drones” at the airport.
ACI Aisa-Pacific & Middle East have embarked on a number of research initiatives that shed light on the significance of air connectivity in driving economic and social development, identified key factors that influence changes in air connectivity, and proposed recommendations to enhance airport connectivity and advocate for greater liberalisation.
ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East had the privilege to be invited by the Airport Authority Hong Kong to conduct a briefing session on 10 January 2024 to share the latest developments of One-stop Security (OSS) in the Asia-Pacific region and other parts of the world. The session was attended by around 30 participants from both the Airport Authority Hong Kong and the Aviation Security Company Limited (AVSECO).
The 20th ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Economics Committee (the Committee) met in Muscat, Oman between 19 and 20 November 2023.
