Airfares in Asia-Pacific and Middle East surged as nations emerged from pandemic-related restrictions, according to the Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific’s latest Airport Industry Outlook.
Over the years, ACI Asia-Pacific has played an active role in the area of aviation security and facilitation in the Middle East. Mr. Gary Leung, Manager, Security and Facilitation of ACI Asia-Pacific, is currently the vice-chair of the ICAO Middle East Regional Aviation Security and Facilitation Implementation Team (RAFIT).
Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), International Civil Aviation Organisation and Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific will jointly organise a webinar on Global Reporting System and Format (GRF) on September 29, 2022 with the theme “Ten Months into GRF, Challenges Met and Lessons Learned in Asia-Pacific".
Stefano Baronci, Director General of the Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific, said the pandemic has "brought technology to the fore and has only accelerated the digital transformation that was already in place before," during an interview, July 7, with The Korea Times at the headquarters of the Korea Airports Corp. Airports Council International (ACI) Asia Pacific has forecasted that the region will record 62 per cent of air traffic recovery in 2022 compared to 2019 traffic of 3.4 billion passengers.

The 17th Meeting of the ACI Asia-Pacific Economics Committee took place in Singapore on May 19, 2022, the first physical meeting since the onset of COVID-19. The hybrid meeting also offered an opportunity to join virtually for those who could not make it. The meeting had 9 in-person attendees and 22 dialing in from around the region.
The 54th meeting of ACI World Security Standing Committee (WSSC/54) was held in Montréal from 25 - 26 May. The two-day meeting rallied over 20 security professionals from airports, World Business Partners and staff from ACI regional offices. Global security experts from ICAO, IATA and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) were invited as guest speakers in the respective sessions of the meeting.
Aircraft noise management is a high priority for airports as part of their environmental sustainability. Over the years, airports have been engaging with local governments, aviation authorities and other stakeholders to explore solutions for aircraft noise management. ACI Asia-Pacific, as one of the key stakeholders in the industry, has been helping its members to address aircraft noise.
