ACI APEX Review conducted in Manado, Indonesia for Security Enhancement

  • 2024-09-19

An Airport Excellence Programme (APEX) in Security review was successfully conducted at Sam Ratulangi International Airport (MDC) in Manado, Indonesia from 9-13 September 2024. Hosted by PT Angkasa Pura I, this review aimed to enhance airport security by assessing current practices and compliance with global standards.

The review team comprised security experts from Incheon Airport, Queen Alia International Airport, Edinburgh Airport, Changi Airport, Velana International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport. Their expertise contributed to a comprehensive evaluation of security measures at Sam Ratulangi International Airport.

Launched in 2017, APEX in Security is a peer-to-peer assessment that aims to help airports improve compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and increase adoption of international best practices. To date, over 40 APEX in Security reviews have already been conducted globally.

Airports interested in hosting an APEX in Security review or becoming a voluntary security assessor can reach out to Mr. Gary Leung, Senior Manager at ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, for more information.
