ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East publishes guidance document to promote sustainability in Airport Security Operations

  • 2023-10-30

Developed by the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Aviation Security Committee (RASC), this guidance document provides practical examples that can make airport security operations more sustainable from environmental, social, and economic perspectives.

The aim of this guidance document is to assist airport security managers in considering ways in which the security function can actively contribute to the broader sustainability objectives of the airport,  without compromising security performance and compliance.

Sustainable development refers to development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Over the past years, more and more airport operators have increasingly recognised the importance of sustainability, and have set various goals to achieve a more sustainable development.

Each function within an airport has a role to play in contributing to the organisation-wide sustainability goals and objectives. The airport security function is no exception.
