Green Airports Recognition 2024 - Biodiversity and Nature-Based Solutions

The GAR 2024 received an overwhelming submissions, showcasing successful case studies and initiatives in their biodiversity preservation and best practices. This years’ submissions include creative and innovative projects, ranging from Plantation for carbon reduction and social benefits, Marine life conservation by airports, Wetland/ecological rejuvenation, In-house airport horticulture and nursery, and Wildlife management for safe operations. This publication showcases several outstanding projects were identified at airports, including Hong Kong International Airport, Kansai Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and Queenstown Airport, have undertaken environmental initiatives to promote marine, coastal, wetland and wildlife conservation.

Green Airports Recognition 2023 - Single Use Plastic Elimination

The Green Airports Recognition (GAR) was established by ACI Asia-Pacific and Middle East with the support of the ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Environment Committee. The Recognition’s objective is to promote environmental best practices to minimise aviation’s impacts on the environment and to recognise ACI Asia-Pacific and Middle East airport members who have outstanding accomplishments in their environmental projects.  This publication acknowledges airports from Asia-Pacific and the Middle East that participated in the campaign this year and shared their successful path towards eradicating single-use plastic.

Airport Solar PV Implementation Guidance Document

Airport Solar PV Implementation Guidance Document for Asia-Pacific and Middle East Airports

This guidance document lays out the project development process as a series of tasks namely; demand estimation, site selection, technology evaluation and plant design, financial viability assessment, selection of developer/supplier, plant construction, plant commissioning and operation & maintenance. Some project development activities may happen in parallel. It is up to the individual airports to oversee the activities and ensure they are coordinated and synchronised appropriately to achieve the desired outcome.

Tendering, Guideline, Climate Resilience Planning

Tendering Guideline for Climate Resilience Planning

ACI Asia-Pacific has released the Tendering Guidelines for Climate Resilience Planning to build on airport operators’ understanding of the climate risk assessment. This guideline will help identify an airport’s sensitivity to adverse impacts and adaptive capacity to climate hazards.

The assessment can be used for development of possible adaptation actions to improve resilience and manage the impacts of a changing climate at an airport. This guideline provides sample contract clauses which can be used in the tendering process to commission a climate resilience study.
