At its 18th Regional Assembly in Kobe, Japan, Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific, a trade association representing 622 airports from 47 countries/territories, has made a resolution to promote, restore and develop air connectivity in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East to ensure social and economic development as well as support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Maldives Airports Company (MACL), the operator of Velana International Airport (VIA), participated in the Fifth Meeting of the Asia/Pacific Aerodrome Assistance Working Group of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The working group meeting was held from March 13–16, 2023, at the Kurumba resort, hosted by the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority (MCAA).

Air travel is all about ensuring safety. Civil aviation regulators globally have a strict policy about items permitted in hand and check-in baggage. In India, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) monitors this and issues periodic directives to airport operators to ensure smooth transit of passengers. BCAS in its recent order has directed airports to create greater awareness among passengers about permitted items.
In response to the “New Ten Measures” issued by the State Council lately to optimize epidemic preventive measures and the notice issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on the work plan for the resumption of international flights, a series of control measures will be implemented for international flights resumption starting from 8th January 2023. Following the Central Government, Macau SAR Government has also promulgated a new anti-epidemic policy of “Five Plus Three” for immigration and will introduce updated policies continuously.
The 34th Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific Regional Board Meeting was held in Muscat on 6th December 2022. As the epidemic development and immigration policies vary between different countries, both in-person and virtual meeting was held at the same time. Aviation business leaders from across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East region attended the meeting to provide strategic direction for ACI Asia-Pacific in its advocacy efforts, programmes and activities within the region.
Kansai Airports Kobe is delighted to announce the donation of a chemical fire engine (former No. 3 retired in FY2021) to the Tanna Airport of the Republic of Vanuatu in the South Pacific Ocean on Tuesday, December 13.
Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) as part of its continued focus on security, handed over specialized Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad equipment to the Airport Security Group (ASG) of CISF. The state-of-the-art equipment will aid the ASG personnel tasked with maintaining the security of the airport deal with any nefarious designs by individuals or organizations involving explosives at the airport.
