This week, the global community of airport innovators, start-ups, visionary thinkers, researchers and top tech minds gathers at Rome Fiumicino Airport for AIRPORTS INNOVATE 2024. The conference, organised jointly by ACI EUROPE, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East and ACI World, and hosted by Aeroporti di Roma, will chart the future of air travel, pooling innovative solutions, groundbreaking tools and know-how from across the globe.
The three-day event brought together stakeholders and airport workforce for engaging activities such as practical demonstrations, walkthroughs, and toolbox talks. These activities promoted the principles of the Safety Management System (SMS) and Aviation Security (AVSEC) ensuring compliance with Qatar Civil Aviation Regulations and international standards while strengthening MATAR’s commitment to a safety and security-first culture.
Mangaluru International Airport on September 24 bid farewell to Julie, the beloved 8-year-old Labrador and member of the K9 squad of the Airport Security Group of CISF. The K9 Squad welcomed Rio, a 11-month-old Labrador puppy, into the Squad as Julie’s replacement.
GIAA also was recognized as the first airport in the region to receive approval of its Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-required Safety Management System (SMS) Implementation Plan, which when fully implemented, will help airports further foster a positive safety culture through improved detection and correction of safety concerns.
The celebration is in line with the directive from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation to stakeholders in the aviation industry to reinforce the idea that aviation security is everyone’s concern. The celebration which consists of a series of activities, underscores the tag line – See It, Say It, Secure It. The theme this year is "Enhancing Passenger Security through Effective Divestment."
Mangaluru International Airport, managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the globally diversified Adani Group, on Monday further strengthened the airport’s security infrastructure with the addition of advanced equipment provided to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Mangaluru International Airport in its continued quest for safe operations, conducted Mangalam – Tabletop Exercise 2024 on May 28. This exercise was a precursor to the full-scale aerodrome emergency exercise (FSAEE) that will be held in November 2024. The airport periodically conducts the tabletop and FSAEE as mandated by the civil aviation sector regulator – DGCA and as per the guidance from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA).
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) announced that the Passenger Security Charge (PSC), collected by airlines on behalf of AAHK from passengers departing from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), is scheduled to be adjusted from HK$55 to HK$65 effective from 1 January 2025. Subject to passenger traffic growth and prevailing passenger traffic demand at HKIA, the PSC could be increased in phases to HK$75 from 2027 onwards. The PSC was last adjusted in 2021.
As part of its ongoing commitment to operational health and safety standards across its operations, the Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management (MATAR) successfully conducted its annual MATAR Safety Campaign at Hamad International Airport (DOH).
