The topic of rising airfare trends was one of the focal points of discussions among airport leaders during the Board Meeting of the Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), hosted by Cambodia Airports, in Phnom Penh.
Maldives Airports Company Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Gordon Andrew Stewart as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of MACL. Gordon is a British National with over 30 years of international management experience in Aviation and Transportation industry across Europe, MENA, Asia and North America, including 20 years at Executive and Board Level.
Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited, the operator of Yangon International Airport, updated its preventive measures for COVID-19 and regular maintenance as part Airport Public Health Contingency Plan, within the airport in line with the recommendation from ICAO.
Adelaide Airport is set to reduce potable water consumption in its main terminal by 50 per cent – or 10 million litres a year - with the connection of cooling towers to the airport’s stormwater scheme. The initiative has already secured Adelaide Airport gold status for water management in results announced last week by ACI (Airport Councils International) Asia-Pacific.
ACI Asia-Pacific and IATA are joining ICAO MID in urging the governments in the Middle East to rapidly implement ICAO’s global guidelines for restoring air connectivity to ensure the safe and harmonized restart of aviation in the region.
Various initiatives and measures have been in place at Narita International Airport to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection. In addressing the various policies, we are also working to prevent infection in collaboration with the government authorities and airlines as well as other stakeholders to ensure a safe and reliable use of the airport by our customers.
The Airport Authority’s (AA) relief package for the airport community will continue in view of the prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The waiver or reduction of various fees for the aviation industry announced in March this year will continue in July and August.
Sunshine Coast Airport has welcomed the arrival of the first flight on its new $334 million runway as it officially opened today (Sunday). An Alliance Airlines Fokker 100, flight QQ 994, was the first aircraft to touchdown on the new 2450m x 45m runway at 9:30am, 11 weeks since the airport closed its terminal and temporarily farewelled its last passenger jet.

As part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2020, Greg Fordham was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his outstanding service to the aviation transport industry. The Order of Australia recognises citizens who have demonstrated excellence, achievement, and service to the nation or humanity.
