Airport industry experts from Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Europe exchange insights on operational excellence in Brussels at the first Total Airport Management (TAM) Experience Exchange Programme

  • 2026-10-08

The first Total Airport Management (TAM) Experience Exchange (the Exchange) Programme was launched in Brussels, Belgium on 29 and 30 September 2026.

The Exchange welcomed nearly 40 industry experts in airport operations and strategic planning from around 20 airports in Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Europe. The Exchange is a joint effort between ACI EUROPE and ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, and was graciously hosted by Brussels Airport with the support from Airport Intelligence.

TAM is an initiative that supports airports significantly in ensuring closer stakeholder collaboration and efficient usage of infrastructure, which can enhance operation efficiency, increase capacity and throughput and improve customer experience.

The Exchange is dedicated for promoting engagements between airports from different regions to stimulate dialogues and exchange best practices about the implementation of TAM related initiatives, such as Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) and Airport Operations Centre (APOC).

It is noticeable that airports in different regions have begun to implement TAM related initiatives, often prompted by congestions, capacity shortages, throughput bottleneck and resource constraints. As such, an interactive platform for exchanging experiences and best practices are beneficial for the airports in terms of targeted experience sharing, consultation and expertise support through peer inputs.

The two-day agenda included a series of case study presentations from airports in Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Europe, and a number of breakout group discussions that enabled participants to network and share their experiences on the operational framework, stakeholder engagement, safety and security, data and tools of TAM.

The participants of the Exchange also had the opportunity to visit the APOC at Brussels Airport and enjoyed an immersive learning and training experience at the AHLEX training facilities.

The Exchange is part of a five-year roadmap that aims to bring airports in both ACI Regions closer and to cooperate on TAM related initiatives. A joint Position Paper will be announced and published at the upcoming ACI Airports Innovate in Barcelona, Spain between 23-25 November.
