Sharjah Airport Authority participates in specialised workshop to strengthen emergency, crisis, and disaster preparedness

Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) participated in a specialised workshop on emergency, crisis, and disaster management as part of the Knowledge Management in Crisis and Disaster Management programme organised by The Sharjah Police (SP) represented by the General Department of Prevention and Safety. The workshop brought together representatives from organisations across the aviation and airspace sector to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices, strengthen institutional preparedness, and enhance coordination between participating entities.  

The workshop welcomed more than 100 participants, including department directors, heads of divisions, specialised personnel, and representatives from the Sharjah Civil Aviation Department, Sharjah Airport Authority, and Sharjah Police, which organised and delivered the programme.  

The programme explored a range of key topics, including the roles and responsibilities of the organisations involved, Sharjah Police’s emergency, crisis, and disaster management framework, the different phases of incident management, security risk registers and response plans, command and control systems, available capabilities and resources, and operational best practices in managing emergency situations. As the organising body, Sharjah Police also shared its institutional expertise and facilitated discussions to encourage knowledge exchange among stakeholders across the aviation and airspace sectors.  

The workshop enhanced participants’ understanding of emergency and crisis management processes, command and control systems, and risk and incident management, while providing valuable insight into the roles, capabilities, and areas of collaboration between participating organisations. It also promoted a shared understanding of preparedness, coordination, and joint response mechanisms, helping to strengthen communication channels and improve collective readiness for emergencies that may affect the aviation and airspace sector.

Commenting on the participation, Abdelaziz Humaid Sahoo, Emergency Operations Room Manager at Sharjah Airport Authority, said: “This workshop provides an important platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise while strengthening integration and coordination between organisations across the aviation and airspace sector. Such initiatives play a vital role in enhancing institutional preparedness and improving the efficiency of our collective response to emergencies, crises, and disasters.”
