Philippines aviation growth demands urgent infrastructure investment
- 2026-04-29
The Philippines is strengthened its position as one of the top ten fastest-growing aviation markets in the world, growing at an average of 4.4% every year for the next three decades until 2054. This growth is supported by strong economic momentum and an expanding middle class.
It is against this backdrop that ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), as the trusted voice of airports in the region, took to the stage at the 8th Philippine Airport Modernisation and Expansion Summit in Manila on 22-23 April 2026 to share evidence-based insights on Philippine’s aviation growth, and calling for urgent infrastructure investment.
This growth potential makes airport expansion and modernisation a national imperative. Airports are not just transport hubs, but backbones of economic growth, driving development at the global, regional, and national level, and creating jobs at scale.
Pressing need for airport development
Senior Manager, Economics, Mr. Philip Kwok represented ACI APAC & MID on a panel that focused on passenger traffic growth, connectivity, and capacity gaps. Mr. Kwok highlighted the positive growth trajectory of Philippine aviation and to make the case for strategic master planning as the foundation for keeping the country's airports competitive. He advocated that infrastructure development and capacity enhancements are essential for capitalising and capturing future growth, and that airports must be positioned today to meet the expectations of tomorrow's passengers.
ACI APAC & MID continues to lead the way in advocating for airport infrastructure development in an economically sustainable manner through active consultation with industry stakeholders across the region.
