New 5-year Environmental Plan for Kansai Three Airports

Kansai Airports Group is delighted to announce a new five-year Environmental Plan (2018-2022) to further accelerate its integrated efforts to reduce the environmental footprints atthe three airports in the Kansai region: Kansai International Airport (KIX), Osaka International Airport (ITAMI) and Kobe Airport (KOBE).


This five-year plan, covering all three airports, encompasses the following four pillars:
• Response to climate change
• Resource usage
• Harmonious coexistence with the surrounding environment
• Environmental management
Under these pillars, specific strategic goals and tasks are defined to serve as performance indicators for our future activities.


Kansai Airports Group is committed to strengthen its efforts to reduce environmental impacts, to fulfil its social responsibilities and to tackle environmental issues on a local and global scale.


As June is designated as “Environment Month” by the Ministry of Environment, Kansai Airports Group will hold a number of events at the three airports in this month with the aim of promoting environmental awareness in accordance with the Environmental Plan.

・“World Environment Day Digital Stamp Rally”, June 5th to June 11th, 2018
Kansai Airports Group will hold an event at all three airports on June 5th to raise awareness on environmental conservation, in line with the World Environment Day events to be held by VINCI Airports Group worldwide. Upon scanning one of the QR codes at several spots scattered throughout the airport, customers will be prompted with a quiz to win a digital stamp. If customers collect all the stamps, customers will win Kansai Airports Group’s original eco-bag as a prize. One round of the stamp rally need to be completed within one airport.

・“Stop Engine Idling Campaign”, June 20th (KOBE), June 21st (KIX) and June 22th (ITAMI) As an annual event involving Kansai Airports Group employees together with airport operators, we will encourage drivers to switch off the engine when their vehicles are not running. This will be the first year in which all three airports together, including KOBE, are to engage in this campaign.


・“Clean Up Campaign”, May 30th to June 13th, 2018
During the campaign period, Kansai Airports Group will call on airport business operators at the three airports to actively clean the areas around their business establishments.
