Macau International Airport progresses with land reclamation for expansion and runway rehabilitation, adjusting night-time flight schedules from late October

The reclamation and expansion of Macau International Airport have been progressing in an orderly manner since commencing in the late 2024. As to facilitate the upcoming reclamation and expansion of the runway artificial island and apron, the construction of a new taxiway and runway rehabilitation and improvement works at the same period to increase runway capacity. In accordance with the construction contract, flight take-offs and landings will be temporarily suspended from 00:00-08:00 from late October 2026 to second half of 2029, to ensure construction safety and smooth flight operations while maintaining construction quality.

MIA has engaged in advance communication and coordination with the airlines regarding the project and adjusted flight schedules to minimize the impact on airport operations, and will maintain close communication with the contractor and monitor the progress of the works. Subject to full compliance with aviation safety standards and the availability of the necessary technical conditions, MIA will assess the feasibility of shortening the duration of the night flight suspension during holiday travel peaks and strive to complete the overall construction as early as possible.

Multiple operational units are involved across the airport for these infrastructure projects, a complex coordination process is required to balance construction requirements, runway rehabilitation safety of phased construction, and affected operations with the broader goal of developing the "international air transport hub (port) on the west bank of the Pearl River", and all parties are working together to provide full support.
