Earthquake Drill to be Held at Osaka International Airport

  • 05 Nov 2018

Kansai Airports will carry out an earthquake drill at Osaka International Airport (ITAMI) on November 7, 2018. The drill will simulate evacuation from the terminal in the event of a 9.0 magnitude Nankai Trough earthquake that records a lower 6 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale. The use of Mega-Speak, a multi-lingual megaphone, and Evac Chair, a chair to transport people up and down a flight of stairs, will also be tested during the drill in a realistic scenario.

By enhancing employees’ awareness of disaster prevention and reviewing appropriate initial responses to an earthquake through the drill, we will ensure safe and secure operations of the airport while cooperating with related organizations.

Kansai Airports Group will continue to conduct various drills to provide a safe and secure environment for all airport users.
