On 28th April, 2026, a delegation led by Mr. Hu Zhenjiang, Deputy Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), visited Macau International Airport for inspection and work exchanges. Accompanied throughout by representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) and the management from Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM), the delegation toured the Macau International Airport Integrated Airport Management Center (IAMC) to learn about the integrated dispatching, intelligent operations, and emergency response procedures. They engaged with in-depth, face-to-face discussions with on-site operations and management personnel, exchanged advanced practices in airport operations management.

The delegation also conducted an inspection of major infrastructure projects, receiving briefings from relevant departments on the construction progress of key projects, including the Macau International Airport Expansion & Reclamation Project, the Runway Rehabilitation and Improvement Project, and the Hengqin Upstream Cargo Terminal Project. Director of Infrastructure Development Department from CAM provided a detailed introduction to the Expansion & Reclamation Project, noting that the project is strictly aligned with the target of completing a new taxiway system and additional aircraft stands by the end of 2029.

This effort aims to address infrastructure shortcomings at Macau International Airport and comprehensively strengthen its hardware capabilities as an aviation hub. CAAC leaders gained a detailed understanding of the cross-departmental coordination challenges faced during construction, as well as the necessity of suspending overnight flight operations to carry out the airport Expansion & Reclamation and Runway Rehabilitation Project. The delegation also received a briefing on the Hengqin Upstream Cargo Terminal Project and discussed how the project will be precisely aligned with the national "15th Five-Year Plan" for airport layout and overall aviation development.

This inspection represented an important initiative to promote the integrated development of Civil Aviation in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. Moving forward, the Civil Aviation Authorities in the Mainland and Macau will continue to strengthen the coordination, advance various infrastructure upgrades and key projects according to schedule, optimize regional aviation services, support the development of a world-class airport cluster in the Greater Bay Area, and serve both national development strategies and promote the diversified, stable growth of Macau's economy.
