
Stakeholder Engagement
ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East engages with regulators and associations of the aviation and travel industry to ensure that the views of airports are duly considered in the formulation of regulations and policies related to aerodrome operations and safety.
Topical issues raised during recent engagements include the promotion of a positive safety culture amongst regulators and operators alike, the enactment of competency requirements for operations personnel, and the challenges in the certification of aerodromes.
Safety Recognition Award 2027
The ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Safety Recognition Award is now calling for applications for 2027. The Award recognises airport operators for their commitment to safety excellence by showcasing best practices aligned with key elements of the Safety Management System (SMS).
Regular Members (airports) of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East are now invited to submit a paper on the topic by 30 September 2026.
The paper should consist of the following:
- Describe the approach applied in selection of safety issue with its SPI & SPT at the airport.
- Presents the effective application and continuous monitoring of safety issue SPI and SPT.
- Demonstrate the innovativeness and effectiveness of these activities and justifying why these might be applicable to other airports; and
- Illustrate the above with pictures, graphs and figures as necessary.
Eligibility:
- Regular Member, i.e. airport member, of ACI APAC & MID is entitled to submit one paper.
- The paper should contain no more than 10 pages including cover in font size no smaller than 11 points.
- The member has fully paid its membership dues to ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East up to the current year.
Evaluation
- The papers will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Effectiveness in solving the problem (40% weighting)
- Innovativeness (25%)
- Cost effectiveness (25%)
- Applicability at other airports (10%)

- Regional Director, ICAO Middle East Office
- Director General, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East
Except on the cover the airport should remain anonymous throughout the paper in the text and graphics to avoid any possibility of bias on the part of the judges.
Winners will be notified in February 2027 for the award ceremony at the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Assembly and Conference tentatively scheduled for May 2027 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
