Renovated KIX Terminal 2 (Domestic) opens on April 1 - New Food Court to enhance the expanded boarding lounge

Kansai Airports is pleased to announce that Kansai International Airport’s Terminal 2 (Domestic) will reopen on April 1, 2026, following its renovation.

Terminal 2 (Domestic), which first opened in 2012, is currently used for domestic flights operated by Peach Aviation Limited. The renovation has been underway since August 2025, and the terminal will reopen in a renewed form on April 1, 2026, in response to continued growth in air traffic.

This renovation introduces self-baggage drop machines and expands the security checkpoints with three 20-meter smart lanes, enabling faster and more stress-free boarding procedures. The expanded boarding lounge will feature a new food court with four outlets. In addition, the existing souvenir shop will reopen after refurbishment, making the area more open and spacious.

With a diverse range of stores conveniently available before departure, the renovated terminal will offer passengers a more enjoyable and comfortable way to spend their time prior to boarding.

Kansai Airports Group will continue to work with stakeholders to create a new travel experience as a gateway to the Kansai region.

This is a conceptual rendering, and the details will be developed in the design process.

Take your pick from carefully crafted Japanese dishes at “Kagonoya,” Osaka’s sizzling local favorites at “Gottsu Ee Honpo,” authentic ramen at “Ramen BOX,” and the perfect after-meal treat at “Azusa Coffee.” Enjoy four distinctive flavors, each with its own unique character.
