Nelson Airport: New community grants fund opens for applications
- 2026-10-12
A new community fund developed to support the wellbeing and success of the Tāhunanui community has opened for applications.
The Tāhunanui Community Fund has been set up by Nelson Airport in partnership with the Tāhunanui Business and Citizens Association to provide grants for the benefit of the Tāhunanui area.
The fund will offer an annual contestable grants round for the next five years.
Nelson Airport Head of Corporate Services Beth Armstrong said the fund was taking applications from 12 October to 22 November and expected to confirm this year's funding allocations to successful applicants before Christmas.
"We're delighted to be able to offer this support to the Tāhunanui community in collaboration with the Tāhunanui Business and Citizens Association. We hope these grants will provide a much-needed boost for those doing important work in the community."
TBCA Chair Jacinda Stevenson said: "Tāhunanui is a vibrant and exciting place to live. We want these grants to provide an opportunity for Tāhunanui and its people to thrive."
A decision panel with representatives from the airport, TBCA and Tāhunanui Liaison Councillor Campbell Rollo will meet before the end of the year.
Guidelines and eligibility for the fund are available on the Nelson Airport website. Grants may be valued between $500 to $5000. A larger grant up to a maximum of $20,000 may be considered for an individual applicant if they can demonstrate significant and/or widespread community benefit.
