  • 2025-10-06

The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau has lowered the typhoon signal from No. 8 to No. 3 at 1 pm today (5th October 2025). As Typhoon Matmo weakens, Macau International Airport (MIA) is progressively restoring flight operations. Affected passengers arrived at the airport in anticipation of their journeys.

During the period when Typhoon Signal No. 8 was in effect, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of MIA fully activated typhoon preparedness measures. The center worked in close coordination with various stakeholders, including airlines and ground service providers, to develop recovery plans for aircraft scheduling, flight operations, and airport resumption post-typhoon. Staffing levels have also been adjusted to prepare for the expected surge in activity following the typhoon.

As of 1 pm, total of 18 flights were canceled, 33 flights were delayed, and 5 flights had rescheduled . After 1 pm, passengers at the airport began to increase, but with the active assistance of various airport operation units, order was well maintained. By 3 pm, departure passengers had been basically completed, with security checks and immigration taking about 30 minutes during peak times.

From 2 pm to midnight, there were approximately 118 flight movements, and the busy period for security checks and immigration is expected to continue until 10:30 pm tonight.

Macau International Airport will continue to maintain close coordination and communication with airlines, actively assisting them in adjusting flight schedules, aiming to shorten the time required to restore normal operations.

Passengers at the airport terminal before 3:00 pm on 5th October 2025. All airport operating units actively assisted passengers
