  • 2025-07-02

More than 500 aviation industry leaders, regulators, and safety experts are expected to attend the third annual Asia Pacific Summit for Aviation Safety (AP-SAS) at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre on July 15–17. AP-SAS 2025 is jointly organised by Flight Safety Foundation and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

“Future-Proofing Aviation Safety: Adapt, Innovate, Excel” is the theme of this year’s event, which will feature keynote addresses from ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar and EASA Executive Director Florian Guillermet.

In addition, former EASA Executive Director Patrick Ky, now CEO of the Singapore-based International Centre for Aviation Innovation, will be a featured speaker. Ky’s presentation will focus on enhancing resilience through re-examining safety protocols, implementing new technologies, and developing integrated airspace frameworks.

Other agenda highlights include a CEO panel discussion examining how to build and maintain a skilled aviation work force in the face of booming industry growth. Expected panelists include IATA Director General Willie Walsh, Singapore Airlines Engineering Co. CEO Chin Yau Seng, CANSO Director-General Simon Hocquard, Jeffrey Lam, group chief operating officer and president of Commercial Aerospace at ST Engineering, and Ingrid Azucena Zelaya Florian, president of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission and director general of Guatemala’s Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics.

Session topics during the three-day event include reinforcing safety fundamentals, the safety management system implementation journey, resilience by design, turbulence and weather hazards, and a proactive approach to aircraft maintenance. Artificial intelligence (AI) will also be explored with a presentation on the rapid adoption of AI and machine learning in aviation and a panel discussion on practical safety implementations of AI.
