Call for Proposals: ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East invites experts for Travel Retail Study
- 2025-07-01
Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) is inviting consultancies and research institutions to conduct a crucial analytical study on Travel Retail in the Post-Pandemic Era.
The study, covering emerging markets and major travel retail hubs in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East regions, will analyse:
- Emerging trends in airport retail business.
- Evolving passenger behaviors and spending patterns.
- The economic impact of duty-free retail across airports.
- Statistical analysis and trend forecasting with a comparative study of 2019 vs. 2024 performance.
- Generational spending behaviors and the influence of technology.
- The contribution of duty-free channels to airport revenues.
The findings of this study are expected to provide actionable insights and strategic policy recommendations for airport operators, travel retailers, and regulators, ultimately aiming to enhance non-aeronautical business and support long-term sustainability and growth.
Travel retail has emerged as a critical pillar for airport financial stability, accounting for approximately 47% of total non-aeronautical revenues at airports. As the aviation industry continues to grow exponentially, understanding emerging trends and passenger behaviors in this sector is paramount.
Preliminary findings from the study will be showcased at the Trinity Forum 2026 in Doha, co-organised by The Moodie Davitt Report, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, and ACI World, and hosted by Qatar Duty Free on 5-6 February, 2026.
ACI APAC & MID seek qualified partners with extensive expertise in the aviation industry, particularly passenger behavior analytics, retail economics, and sustainability.
Interested parties are requested to submit proposals before 1 August 2025.
