Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) today announced its highly anticipated Air Connectivity Ranking 2024, revealing a remarkable 14% year-on-year increase in both Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions, driven by strong international demand, robust network recovery, and the return of major travel corridors.
Over the years, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East has been playing an active role in the area of security and facilitation in the Middle East region.
The ACA program requires the monitoring of the airport carbon footprint and the implementation of actions to reduce the footprint over the years. To achieve its targets, the airport has invested heavily in highly efficient chiller systems for the central air conditioning, replaced all light sources with LED technologies, or reduced the use of diesel ground generators.

Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) facilitated the inbound handling of areca nut (Areca catechu), a tropical crop at its integrated cargo terminal (ICT) earlier in January 2024. The red variety of areca nut weighing 1519kgs in 60 bags was ferried as belly air cargo from Agartala to this coastal city. This is the highest quantity of the crop that the integrated cargo terminal has handled since it started domestic cargo operation on May 1, 2023.
