Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) and the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, establishing a formal framework for collaboration between the region’s airport and air traffic management (ATM) communities.
The aviation industry in the Middle East has benefited significantly from the region’s strategic location – at the cross roads of major economies in Asia, Africa and Europe. Due to its geographical location, Middle East carriers can easily connect to any continent in the world: From the well-established international hubs of Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, aircraft can reach almost all of Asia, Africa, Europe within a flying range of eight hours.
55 out of 89, or 62% of foreign airlines have resumed operations at all five international airports in Malaysia i.e., KL International Airport (KUL), Langkawi International Airport (LGK), Penang International Airport (PEN), Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) and Kuching International Airport (KCH). Among the airlines that introduced new international destinations last month included Batik Air Malaysia (OD) which commenced Phuket from KUL with seven flights weekly. Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) commenced two new direct services, KUL – Haneda with two flights weekly and BKI – Singapore with three flights weekly. Firefly (FY) resumed Phuket service from PEN with four flights weekly.
