TSV Airport to deliver 300 additional parking bays

Townsville Airport has commenced construction on a car park expansion project, set to deliver 300 additional parking spaces across the airport precinct.

The multi-million project is an important investment in future-proofing the airport, increasing parking capacity to support growing demand while improving convenience and accessibility for airport users.

Townsville Airport General Manager Arron McLean said the expansion was a direct response to growing passenger numbers and the increasing demand for parking at the airport.

"We're continuing to see strong travel demand in North Queensland and this project is an important investment in ensuring our airport infrastructure keeps pace with that growth," Mr McLean said.

"We know parking availability is important to our passengers and this will create a more convenient experience by delivering 300 additional parking spaces across the precinct," Mr McLean said.

The project will be delivered in four stages, to minimise impacts where possible, however airport users may experience some temporary impacts during construction, including changes to parking availability, access routes and pedestrian pathways.

"We understand construction activity may temporarily impact how people access and move through the airport and we thank everyone for their patience while these important improvements are delivered," Mr McLean said.

"We encourage travellers to allow a little extra time to find a carpark when visiting the airport and to follow on-site signage and wayfinding."

Once complete, the project will also deliver a new parking layout designed to provide greater choice and clearer parking options.

"This project will deliver more than just additional parking spaces, it will provide more parking options to suit different traveller needs, whether that's short-term convenience, premium parking close to the terminal or a budget-friendly choice.”

The project is expected to be completed by early 2027.
