Three new phone charging stations to enhance passenger experience at Nadi International Airport

  • 2026-09-17

Passengers travelling through Nadi International Airport will soon have greater access to convenient phone charging facilities with the introduction of three new charging stations in the International Departure Lounge, supported by the Government of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Fiji Office.

The initiative follows discussions between Fiji Airports and KOICA, which approached Fiji Airports in 2025 to explore opportunities to support a small-scale project at Nadi International Airport.

Fiji Airports subsequently proposed the installation of additional phone charging stations in response to passenger feedback highlighting the need for more convenient and accessible places to charge mobile devices while travelling.

The three new charging stations will provide passengers with a convenient way to recharge their devices while waiting for their flights, further supporting a connected and passenger-friendly travel experience at Fiji’s main international aviation gateway.

Fiji Airports Chief Executive Officer Mesake Nawari thanked KOICA and the Government of the Republic of Korea for their support and partnership.

“Importantly, this initiative came directly from passenger feedback. Our passengers told us they wanted more convenient and accessible places to charge their devices while travelling,” Mr Nawari said.

“With the support of KOICA, we are pleased to respond to that feedback with three new charging stations that will directly benefit our travelling public.

“Listening to our passengers and responding to their needs is an important part of how we continue to improve the experience at Nadi International Airport.”

Mr Nawari said the initiative also reflected the growing cooperation between Fiji Airports and organisations in the Republic of Korea.

Earlier this month, Fiji Airports signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Incheon International Airport Corporation, marking another milestone in aviation cooperation between Fiji and Korea.

“Partnerships such as these demonstrate what can be achieved when organisations work together to address practical needs,” Mr Nawari said.

“Every improvement contributes to making Nadi International Airport a more welcoming, convenient and passenger-focused gateway to Fiji.

“We value our partnership with KOICA and look forward to exploring further opportunities to work together for the benefit of Fiji, our passengers and visitors.”

KOICA Fiji Country Director Ms Hankyulsam Cho said the charging stations, while modest in scale, responded to a practical need for passengers travelling through Fiji’s main international gateway.

“In today’s connected world, mobile phones are an essential part of travel, whether passengers are accessing boarding passes and flight information, arranging transportation or staying connected with family and friends,” Ms Cho said.

“We hope these facilities will provide passengers with greater convenience and peace of mind while waiting for their flights.”

Ms Cho said the initiative reflected the Republic of Korea’s commitment to practical development cooperation with Fiji.

“Through KOICA, Korea is pleased to support initiatives that respond to local needs and provide tangible benefits to the people of Fiji and visitors to the country.”

The initiative further strengthens the friendship and cooperation between Fiji and the Republic of Korea and demonstrates how practical partnerships can deliver meaningful improvements for passengers and communities.
