Perth Airport unveils refreshed T1 International retail precinct ahead of winter travel surge

  • 2026-07-06

Perth Airport has unveiled its refreshed T1 International retail and hospitality precinct, marking a major investment in the passenger experience as international travel prepares to welcome over 50,000 travellers on peak days over the upcoming winter school holidays.

The completion of a significant T1 International food, beverage and retail refresh has introduced 14 new and revitalised outlets across the terminal, delivering a stronger mix of dining, shopping, local produce, travel essentials and premium experiences for passengers.

The new precinct brings together global retail operators and leading local brands, with partners including Avolta, Lagardère AWPL, Delaware North, SSP, WHSmith and Smarte Carte helping deliver a more contemporary international terminal experience.

Perth Airport Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer, Kate Holsgrove, said the refresh reflects Perth Airport’s continued focus on improving the passenger experience now, while preparing for future growth under its One Airport vision.

“T1 International has changed significantly over the past year. There are now more places for passengers to eat, drink, shop, browse and relax before boarding. This refresh brings together international retail expertise, iconic brands and a stronger sense of Western Australia throughout the terminal,” said Ms Holsgrove.

The precinct has been shaped by passenger demand for greater choice across fast, fresh, familiar and new experiences. New venues include Matso’s Brewhouse, WA Cellar, The.Social, Co + Co, Roll’d Vietnamese, Sushi Jiro, The Jerky Co., Heys Luggage, Discover Perth, Natural Collective, curi.o.city and a reimagined Perth Duty Free.

Several of the new retail design concepts have drawn direct inspiration from Western Australia. Concept store Discover Perth takes inspiration from the State’s geography and natural environment, while restaurant WA Cellar features rock and sand-toned elements inspired by the underground feel of South West cellar doors. Co + Co cocktail lounge draws on red earth and rugged textures of the State’s natural palette, while Matso’s Brewhouse brings one of WA’s most recognisable hospitality brands to the international stage through its first airport venue outside the Kimberley.

Ms Holsgrove said the investment in T1 International reflected the airport’s role as a major gateway for Western Australia and an increasingly important platform for local brands.

“Airports are often the first and last impression travellers have of a destination, and this refresh gives us the opportunity to showcase Western Australia in a stronger way. From local food and beverage operators to WA gifting, wine, design and hospitality, the precinct helps bring a stronger sense of place to the international passenger journey,” said Ms Holsgrove.

Perth Duty Free has expanded its footprint in T1 International across its new immersive departures and arrivals stores. The expanded Duty Free offer includes over 100 new brands and a range of category extensions designed to strengthen the international retail experience.

Perth Airport continues to invest in passenger service improvements, including refreshed seating areas, enhanced terminal transfer and shuttle bus services, and the ongoing rollout of self-service kiosks to support faster check-in. New accessibility facilities include a pre-bookable sensory room, Changing Places, service animal relief areas and accessibility lanes at security screening.

“These upgrades are all part of Perth Airport’s focus on improving the passenger experience now and into the future. While we continue to progress major plans under our One Airport vision, including new multi-level car parks, a new parallel runway and new terminal facilities, passengers are already seeing meaningful improvements across the airport today,” said Ms Holsgrove.

Perth Airport’s aviation network expansion continues to grow, supporting greater connectivity across Asia, Europe, New Zealand and interstate markets. Recent milestones include more services to Bali with TransNusa, direct services to Newcastle, Auckland and Johannesburg with Qantas, year-round direct flights to Guangzhou with China Southern Airlines, and the return of daily services from both Qatar Airways and Emirates.
