
MIA recorded solid passenger traffic in first Quarter and Easter Holidays

Macau International Airport (MIA) recorded 2,117,427 passenger traffic in the first quarter of 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of approximately 15%; aircraft movements reached 15,952, up 10% year-on-year, reflecting solid performance. In terms of market structure, passengers from the Mainland of China market accounted for 41% in the first quarter, while passengers from China Taiwan accounted for 19% and that from Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia accounted for 40%. International passenger traffic reached 224,000 in the first two months the year, a year-on-year increase of 11%. In addition, passenger traffic during the period from 3rd to 7th April 2026 Easter and Ching Ming Festival holidays reached 115,000 with 856 aircraft movements, representing year-on-year increases of 2.6% and 9.1% respectively.
In preparation for the summer flight season, MIA is fully optimizing its operational deployment and actively engaging with airlines on incentive programs, resource coordination, and the feasibility of new routes. These efforts aim to enhance the efficiency of traffic rights utilization and promote the convenience of fifth freedom rights to strengthen airlines’ confidence in expanding their route networks. Amid the challenge of high fuel prices, MIA maintains close communication with airlines to advance plans for launching routes to the Mainland of China and Northeast Asia in June and July this year, thereby further strengthening the domestic and international route network.
MIA continues to enhance the passenger travel experience, with plans to extend its “Check’ N Fly Service” to other hotels in the second half of the year. It is currently advancing commercial negotiations and procuring the relevant software and hardware equipment, aiming to attract international travellers with a high-quality travel experience and convenience, further reinforcing the competitiveness of Macau as an international tourism destination.
