MIA Flight Routes Resume Ideally Getting Prepared for Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Holidays

In response to the boom in travel demand during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, Macau International Airport (MIA) recently coordinated with various airlines on the situation of resumption of routes.

 

MIA has been actively expanding its market in order to meet the different travel needs of passengers, thus the recovery of flight routes was ideal. As of today in 2023, the overall flight routes recovered to 70% of the same period in 2019, of which the Mainland of China routes recovered to 88%, Southeast Asia routes recovered to 56% and China Taiwan routes recovered fully compared to the same period in 2019, with the market development and more airlines are attracted to come to Macau.

 

According to the data from airlines, MIA predicts the period during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, it will handle about 150 flights and about 18,000 passengers on average per day. The aircraft movements will recover by 68% and the passenger traffic will recover by 73% compared to the same period of 2019. With the continuous growth in the overall passenger categories, passengers taking the Mainland of China routes accounting for 63% of the total, 37% on China Taiwan and Southeast Asia routes, and is expected to grow steadily.

 

Considering the growth of the peak travel period, Macau International Airport is actively preparing for the work on operation safety, security and passenger services to ensure that passengers have a pleasant journey. MIA will strengthen on monitoring of passenger flow to avoid long waits at the check-in counters, boarding gates, and security checkpoints. Allocate enough manpower to minimize delays and take diversion measures to guide passengers for provide more comprehensive services.

 

The operating hours of the shops and restaurants in the airport will adjust to match the flight schedule during the holidays to provide diversified retailing and catering services to the passengers. In addition, Macau International Airport reminds passengers to allow sufficient time for check-in procedures and security checks to avoid long waiting times at the airport.
