
Macau International Airport held “Soaring for 30 Years” Route Promotion event in Guangzhou

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Macau International Airport (MIA), Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) successfully held the “Soaring for 30 Years – Macau International Airport Route Promotion Event” on 5th July 2025 at OneLink Walk Guangzhou. The event specially invited representatives from major airlines operating in Southeast and Northeast Asia routes in MIA to jointly promote the flight services, aiming to introduce route offerings to Greater Bay Area residents. It sought to attract more travellers to Southeast and Northeast Asia via MIA during peak travel seasons while showcasing the achievements of the airport’s three-decade development.
At the event, Mr. Eric Fong, Director of Marketing Department of CAM, presented the operating airlines of MIA, the domestic and international route networks and the upgrades of land transportation. He also shared over 500 weekly round-trip flights from Macau to Southeast and Northeast Asia, and Taiwan China. Apart from the existing MIA Service Centers in Zhongshan and Jiangmen, a service center has newly opened in Zhuhai this month. Further plans include the establishment of new service centers at Shenzhen Shekou Port and Zhongshan Port, which will apply Artificial Intelligence-Powered
Systems to provide travellers with real-time flight information, ticketing services and immigration guidance.
To enhance passenger convenience, CAM is exploring additional facilities such as pre-check-in services at these locations. He also introduced cross-border shuttle bus services to MIA, which covering 31 stations across six cities in the Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhaoqing, Jiangmen and Zhuhai), operating every 30 minutes and effectively strengthening the function of MIA as a regional hub.
The event kicked off with tourism-themed cultural performances and live music, followed by interactive games and airline promotional videos. Over 500 airport commemorative gifts, aviation-themed souvenirs, and multiple round-trip flight tickets from Macau were distributed on-site, created a dynamic atmosphere with continuous highlights throughout the event. The online pre-event livestream with Tongcheng Travel achieved remarkable results, garnering over 930,000 views, effectively implementing a multi-faceted promotional strategy combining online and offline engagement, which enhanced the attractiveness of MIA and its Southeast and Northeast Asia routes, encouraging more travellers from the Greater Bay Area to choose Macau as their transit hub.
The event was successfully held with the participation and gift sponsorship of the following airlines and organization (in no particular order): Air Macau, EVA Air, STARLUX Airlines, Tigerair Taiwan, AirAsia, VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways, Air Busan, Korean Air, Jeju Air and Tongcheng Travel.
