GMR Hyderabad International Airport strengthens South India’s connectivity to Central Asia with new Tashkent route

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL) marked a significant milestone in its international connectivity journey with the launch of the inaugural Centrum Air service between Hyderabad and Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The new route establishes the first direct air connection between South India and Central Asia, further strengthening Hyderabad Airport’s position as a key international gateway.

The inaugural flight departed from Hyderabad Airport in the presence of senior officials from GHIAL, Centrum Air, and other stakeholders and was commemorated with a special ceremony at the airport.

The service will operate twice weekly, providing passengers from Hyderabad and the wider South Indian region with direct access to Uzbekistan. The new route will enhance connectivity between South India and Central Asia, supporting business, trade, and cultural exchanges while providing a convenient gateway through Tashkent, a key regional hub.

With the addition of Tashkent, Hyderabad Airport's network expands to 27 international destinations, complementing its existing connectivity to 74 domestic destinations and further enhancing travel options for passengers across South India. The Hyderabad–Tashkent service positions Hyderabad as South India's gateway to Central Asia's growing technology and healthcare markets, with potential for expanded connectivity across the region.

The launch of the Hyderabad–Tashkent route represents another important step in Hyderabad Airport’s network expansion strategy. In addition to providing direct access to Uzbekistan, the service is expected to strengthen links between South India and Central Asia, facilitate greater mobility across business and leisure segments, and improve access to wider regional destinations through onward connections.
