GIAA Celebrates 50th Anniversary and recognizes Outstanding Employees with Awards

The A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam (GIAA) culminated its 50th Golden Anniversary celebration with a Tenant Appreciation and Employee Recognition Gala on January 30, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Guam.

 

In his welcome address, Executive Manager John “JQ” Quinata thanked Airline Partners, Airport Stakeholders, and Tenants for having been instrumental to the growth and development of the airport over the last five decades. “Without your valuable partnership, and service provision, we would not be the airport that we are today.” He further thanked the hardworking staff and dedicated employees of GIAA, stating that they “are the true engine of this organization that ensure (airport) operations and service are top notch, safe and secure.”

 

In the dazzling ballroom bedecked in groovy gold décor reminiscent of the 70’s disco decade, the following Airport employees were recognized in the following eight (8) categories along with a special recognition award:

 

- Employee of the Year – Austin J. Grant, Program Coordinator II, Property Management Office
- Supervisor of the Year – Michael R. Cuasito, Fire Captain, ARFF
- Spirit of the Year – Joseph R. Mantanona, Airport Police Officer II, Airport Police Division
- Integrity of the Year – Glenn B. Terre, Electrician II, Properties & Facilities Division
- Unit of the Year – SIDA Digital Automation Development Team
- Division of the Year – Operations Division
- Manager of the Year – Antonio O. Laniog, Jr., Acting Engineer Supervisor
- Executive Manager’s Award – Kathrina Bayson, Supply Management Administrator
- Lifesaving Award (Special Recognition Award)
Eric P. Chaco – Firefighter II, ARFF
Taron D. Pitter – Firefighter II, ARFF
Janise B. Quintanilla – Firefighter I, ARFF
Jordan Ray P. Guevara – Firefighter I, ARFF

 

Deputy Executive Manager, Dafne Mansapit-Shimizu extended CONGRATULATIONS to the entire GIAA family, the Service Year celebrants, and Superlative Awards recipients! She reiterated to all… “Your contributions are GOLDEN!” extending thanks to airline partners, tenants, and airport stakeholders, as well, further adding, “We are truly grateful to work alongside you to grow our airport.”
