Forecast for international passenger traffic at Kansai International Airport for the New Year holidays in 2025-26

Kansai Airports announces today a forecast of passenger traffic for international flights, Japanese and non-Japanese combined, at Kansai International Airport (KIX) during the coming New Year holidays (10 days from Friday, 26 December 2025, to Sunday, 4 January 2026).

 

  • International flight passengers are forecasted to be 734,800 (daily average: 73,480).
    Note: Results during the New Year holidays in 2024-25 for 10 days were 764,930 with a daily average of 76,490.
  • The busiest departure day is expected to be Sunday, 28 December 2025, with 41,800 departing passengers, while the busiest arrival day is forecasted to be Sunday, 4 January 2026, with 41,600 arriving passengers.

Note: In New Year holidays in 2024-25, Friday, 27 December 2024, was the busiest day for departure

  With 43,340 passengers, and Sunday, 5 January 2025, was the busiest day for arrival with 40,640 
passengers .

  • The daily average number of passengers is likely to be 96% compared to FY2024, and the top three destinations are expected to be South Korea, Southeast Asia and China.
