Fiji Airports Conducts Strategic Training on AI

Fiji Airports has strengthened its digital transformation efforts through organisation-wide training in Artificial Intelligence, aimed at helping staff use emerging technology to improve workplace efficiency, decision-making, and service delivery.

The initiative brought together more than 30 staff members from key departments, including Air Traffic, Safety and Risk, Airside Operations, Electrical and Mechanical, and Airport Management.

The specialised training, the first face-to-face AI programme of its kind for Fiji Airports, was conducted by Caribbean data transformation strategist and AI expert Leslie Fook.

The sessions focused on the practical application of AI, strategic implementation, and emerging technologies in the workplace.

As airports around the world continue to embrace digital technologies to improve efficiency and service delivery, Fiji Airports said the training marked an important step in ensuring its employees remain adaptable, innovative, and prepared for evolving industry demands.

In opening the training, General Manager Finance Sanjana Mishra said Artificial Intelligence gives Fiji Airports an opportunity to think differently.

“It can help us improve decision-making, strengthen operational efficiency, better understand data, identify risks, and support enhanced business growth,” Ms Mishra said.

“It also allows us to explore new ways of solving problems that may have seemed complex in the past.”

Chief Executive Officer Mesake Nawari said investing in staff capability was critical to the organisation’s long-term growth and competitiveness.

“This training reflects our vision to empower staff with the skills and confidence to embrace innovation and make informed decisions that drive performance and align with our strategic direction,” Mr Nawari said.

“With the aviation industry evolving rapidly, it is important that our workforce evolves with it.”
