In partnership with Fly Pelican and Melbourne Avalon Airport, Canberra Airport is pleased to announce the commencement of the first direct flights between Canberra and Avalon, beginning 26 October 2025.

The new route will operate three times per week, offering greater connectivity between the ACT and Victoria’s growing western corridor. The convenient schedule is designed to support both business and leisure travellers.
Canberra Airport’s Head of Aviation, Michael Thomson, welcomed the announcement, noting the strategic importance of the new service.

“We’re very pleased to partner with Fly Pelican and Melbourne Avalon Airport to introduce direct flights to Avalon, this route opens new opportunities for travellers from both regions – whether it’s accessing the Bellarine Peninsula, Geelong, or welcoming Victorians to explore all that Canberra has to offer.” “The additional connectivity supports our long-term vision to grow domestic travel opportunities and better serve the capital,” Mr Thomson said.

ACT Chief Minister, Andrew Barr welcomed the announcement by Canberra Airport and Fly Pelican, acknowledging their commitment to strengthening Canberra’s connectivity, benefitting visitors and the local community.

“This service makes it easier for many regional Victorians to travel to Canberra. I’m particularly pleased that Canberra will be better connected to the second largest city in Victoria, Geelong. The new flights will further support our growing tourism industry, supporting more local jobs, which is good news for everyone.” said the Chief Minister.

Fly Pelican’s CEO, Marty Hawley, expressed enthusiasm about the airline’s continued expansion and new partnership with Canberra Airport.

“This is an exciting step for Fly Pelican as we strengthen our regional network, we’re proud to provide the very first direct link between Canberra and Avalon – two dynamic regions with strong business and tourism appeal.” Mr Hawley said.
