Aviation continues to surge as Perth Airport posts record monthly passenger numbers
- 2025-08-19
For the first time ever, Perth Airport has surpassed 1.6 million passengers in a one month period. The July 2025 total of 1,609,744 easily beats the previous July period of 1,493,299 passengers. It also outstrips our best previous month of January 2025 that saw 1,564,314 passengers travel through our terminals.
International travel to and from Perth Airport continues to see growth with more than 481,000 passengers travelling over the July period – a 13.4 per cent increase on the July 2024 numbers. Regional travel also continues to perform strongly, with a five per cent growth on July 2024 data.
Perth Airport’s CEO Jason Waters said the growth is positive for the Western Australian economy and the resource and tourism sectors and showcases the importance of Perth as an aviation hub. “Perth Airport has now begun work on a major capital works program which will see more than $5 billion invested in new aviation infrastructure to support this growth. Site preparation works for the new runway are well advanced, construction is continuing on the first of the multi-storey carparks, and design work is advancing for the expanded international terminal and new domestic terminal to facilitate the relocation of Qantas into the Airport Central precinct."
“We’ve also started construction works within Terminals 3 and 4 which will provide additional capacity for Qantas while we build the terminal facilities within Airport Central. We are asking passengers for patience as we deliver multiple major construction projects in an operational environment at a time when our passenger numbers are continuing to grow rapidly."
“We are already seeing considerable pressure building on access roads to Airport Central, with significant traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours, causing delays and frustration for many passengers. Passengers should allow extra time when travelling to the terminal and that they should plan to arrive at least three hours before an international service and two hours before domestic flights, including regional services.”
