Cargo traffic to and from key trading regions in North America, the Middle East and Europe saw the most significant growth during the month.

All passenger segments experienced strong growth compared with November 2022 as passenger traffic continued its steady recovery. Passenger traffic to and from Southeast Asia, Mainland China and Japan recorded the largest increases.

Over the first 11 months of the year, passenger volume surged to 35 million, an approximately eight-fold rise compared with the same period in 2022, while flight movements doubled to 246,240. Cargo volume increased slightly by 1.7% to 3.9 million tonnes year on year.

On a 12-month rolling basis, passenger volume at HKIA experienced an eight-fold year-on-year increase to 36.8 million while flight movements rose by 90.6% to 262,015. Cargo throughput saw a decrease of 1.4% to 4.3 million tonnes.

As holiday season gets underway, HKIA’s terminal has been decorated with Christmas ornaments, with a series of activities and performances scheduled from 21 to 26 December to create a festive atmosphere for passengers. Santa Claus will also meet and greet passengers for photos and distribute Christmas souvenirs.
