The Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), the trade group representing over 600 airports across 44 countries and territories, today released its Travel Retail Study in the Post-Pandemic Era, revealing a fundamental shift in airport retail dynamics. The study points out that younger travelers are now driving spend, while passenger behaviour, rather than sheer traffic volumes, has become the defining factor of airport travel retail performance.
Shanghai Airports witnessed a new record high of one-day traffic both in aircraft movement and passenger throughput on August 11, 2024. The two airports in Shanghai accommodated totally 2,386 flights on one single day while Pudong International Airport handled 1,597 flights and Hongqiao International Airport 789 flights. The passenger traffic also marked a peak of 397,000 persons in a day with 254,000 at Pudong Airport and 143,000 at Hongqiao Airport.
DIAL has worked with IndiGo and SpiceJet to make necessary preparations for shifting of flight operations from T2 and T3 to T1. As per the plan, SpiceJet would shift their 13 flights to Terminal 1 from August 17 and subsequently IndiGo would move back their 34 flights from T2 and T3 to T1, from September 2.

Mangaluru International Airport with IndiGo, has connected this port city in coastal Karnataka to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Starting on August 09, IndiGo is operating this flight daily, making it the second overseas destination of the airline from Mangaluru, after Dubai.
