Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), the leading trade association representing over 600 airports across 45 countries and territories, has contributed US$50,000 to Airlink, a disaster logistics non-profit organisation, to support humanitarian relief efforts in Myanmar following the recent devastating earthquake.
Summer (aviation) schedule 2023 is well and truly on across India from March 26. Mangaluru International Airport is fully geared to play its part in aiding this schedule. This can be gauged from the fact that MIA up to May 31 will handle 234 weekly air traffic movements (ATMs) in the earlier part of the schedule that ends on October 28. In the latter part of the schedule from June 1, MIA will handle 242 ATMs each week.
In great news for Queenslanders, Federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King has granted approval for the construction of the Queensland Regional Aeromedical Base at Brisbane Airport.
Mr. Chu Tan Neng and Mr. Lei Si Tai, Executive Director of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM), led a delegation to visit Shenzhen Baoan International Airport on 21st March 2023 to learn about the development of cargo logistics in Shenzhen in recent years. Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) in a single-minded focus of achieving its goal of environmental sustainability, has added two more electric vehicles (EVs) to its vehicle pool for the current fiscal. The airport in August 2022 had initiated its journey towards sustainability by procuring two EVs for its routine operations and has added four more EVs since.
Auckland Airport is underway with its biggest redevelopment since the airport opened in 1966 with a brand-new domestic terminal to be fully integrated into the international terminal. “This is a major investment for Auckland Airport, one which we have been working towards for many years,” said Patrick Strange, Auckland Airport’s Chair.
The Maldives Airports Company (MACL), the operator of Velana International Airport (VIA), participated in the Fifth Meeting of the Asia/Pacific Aerodrome Assistance Working Group of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The working group meeting was held from March 13–16, 2023, at the Kurumba resort, hosted by the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority (MCAA).
A total of 64 airports in Asia-Pacific and Middle East have collectively contributed towards 162,623 tonnes of carbon reduction (Scope 1 & 2), according to the ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Annual Report 2021-2022 . This is equivalent to the CO2 emitted during the production of close to 24 million cotton t-shirts.
Jack So, Chairman of Airport Authority Hong Kong visited Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO) and met HAECO’s senior management today to receive an update on business recovery and a briefing on HAECO’s plan to expand their operation to Zhuhai as part of AAHK’s plan to set up a high-end aviation industrial park in Zhuhai. The two sides also explored the potential for further enhancing collaboration to capture opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.
