Airports across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East are preparing for nearly 7% annual air travel growth over the next 25 years. To support sustainable development, the 2nd ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Assembly in New Delhi adopted a resolution promoting the optimisation of current capacity and the expansion of new infrastructure.

Airport International Group announced that Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has received 4,196,804 passengers (PAX) between January and July 2022 - marking a 126.2% surge and 17.9% drop against 2021 and 2019 figures, respectively.
A steady surge of growth throughout the second quarter has propelled Dubai International’s (DXB) half yearly traffic to 27.9 million passengers, just 1.2 million shy of the airport’s total annual traffic last year. Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) today announced the air traffic figures for Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) for July 2022. During the month, HKIA welcomed 401,000 passengers, which represented a growth of 259.3% over the same period last year but passenger volume remained significantly below pre-pandemic levels. Cargo throughput and air traffic movements recorded 17.0% and 3.1% year-on-year drops to 348,000 tonnes and 11,485 movements, respectively.

About 650,000 passengers travelled through Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) airports in June – the highest number ever recorded by the group for the month – surpassing the previous record of 642,366 set in 2017.
Sharjah Airport has witnessed a 142.74% rise in the passenger traffic during the first half of 2022, accounting for approximately 6 million travelers. This substantial growth from 2,449 million travelers in H1 2021 illustrates the confidence that customers have in the service and assistance provided by the airport. Additionally, the airport saw a considerable growth in the number of flights, with a total of 41,189 aircrafts operating in H1 compared to 21,709 in the same period of last year, registering an increase of 89.73%.
