Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific today announced the results of the Green Airports Recognition (GAR) Programme 2023, recognising 12 airports in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East for demonstrating outstanding accomplishments in their sustainability projects.
Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific and the China Civil Airports Association (CCAA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation and promote excellence in airport operations and management. The MoU will enhance the synergy between ACI Asia-Pacific and CCAA to promote regular exchanges of information and economic data, assessment of airport service quality, customer service best practices and capacity building initiatives through establishing communication mechanisms.
On the occasion of the EU-India Aviation Summit kicking off today in New Delhi, ACI Asia-Pacific and ACI EUROPE jointly called on India and the European Union (EU) to establish a comprehensive aviation agreement to liberalise traffic rights and boost regulatory alignment, including the acceleration of decarbonisation policies between the two regions.
This guidance document lays out the project development process as a series of tasks namely; demand estimation, site selection, technology evaluation and plant design, financial viability assessment, selection of developer/supplier, plant construction, plant commissioning and operation & maintenance. Some project development activities may happen in parallel. It is up to the individual airports to oversee the activities and ensure they are coordinated and synchronised appropriately to achieve the desired outcome.
At the 11th Asia Pacific Aviation Security Heads of Regulators (HOR) Meeting on 3 March 2023, ACI Asia-Pacific emphasised human-related difficulties in airport security and urged regional governments to work together with the airports to tackle such challenges providing to enable smooth recovery of the industry.
A total of 64 airports in Asia-Pacific and Middle East have collectively contributed towards 162,623 tonnes of carbon reduction (Scope 1 & 2), according to the ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Annual Report 2021-2022 . This is equivalent to the CO2 emitted during the production of close to 24 million cotton t-shirts.
ACI Asia-Pacific participated in the series of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) Webinars, organised by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on 22 February 2023.
The global aviation industry is on track for a strong recovery this year, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), Airports Council International (ACI) World, and ACI Asia-Pacific announced during a joint press conference ahead of the ACI World Governing Board, World Audit Committee, and World Executive Committee meetings. BAC is, for the first time, hosting the strategic meetings, which are being held in Bahrain from March 3 to 4 2023 and provide a platform for senior decision-makers to explore ways of enhancing cooperation between airports, international aviation organizations, and their strategic partners.
ACI Asia-Pacific participated at the 9th Annual Technical and Operational Meeting (ATOM) of the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme – Asia Pacific (CASP-AP) in Singapore from 9-10 February 2023, hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).
